Workshop 2: Supporting your yoga practice
How to use props including blocks, belts, and bolsters to deepen our practice.
Yoga props help our rigid western bodies find more ease and stillness in a new pose! As adults with injuries, or who likely sit in a chair all day, it is possible that you will find certain poses more accessible to you when you have props. When used correctly, yoga props can also help you to avoid injury, improve alignment and bring greater benefits to your mind and body. Yoga is an incredible practice because there’s always further you can go. You can always get more flexible, stronger, and more balanced. A block or strap can help you increase those elements but eventually removing it can also support growth within your practice.
In this workshop the focus will be on revisiting some of the fundamental poses learnt in workshop 1 that form sun salutations, as well as an introduction to standing postures and balances. We'll look at how to use props to help you to create the desired shape for your body, and to become more aware of your own limits.
